As human beings we crave relationships. We do not want to be alone. The ultimate relationship we can have is between us and God. In fact we were created to have a relationship with Him!
John 1:12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God
1 John 3:1 How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
John 3:16 (Amplified Bible)16For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten ([a]unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life. I am a sinner.
Sin is anything contrary to the nature of God. Another definition simply means that sin is missing the mark as in an archer missing his target. Sin can be traced back to the first man and woman in the Bible. God had a perfect plan designed for them but they missed the mark, they went contrary to God's plan for them, they sinned. And because of this sin, every person since is born a sinner, and every person commits sin, they miss the mark.
Now the problemGod is a holy God and hates sin.
He cannot be around sin. Because He is just, He must punish sin. The punishment
for sin is eternal separation from God.
God's Word says: ... all have sinned ... (Romans 3:23); For the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23a). BUT REMEMBER GOD DESIRES A REALTIONSHIP WITH US!!!
SURELY BEING A GOOD PERSON IS ENOUGH TO
I am incapable of saving myself.
Because I am born in sin, no action of mine can accomplish anything toward my salvation. I cannot get to heaven by being good, attending church, praying or anything else. I am helpless and unable to make myself worthy of heaven.
God says: Not by [good works] which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us (Titus 3:5a). (TOP OF PAGE)
SO WHO SAVES ME IF I CAN'T DO IT MYSELF?
Only God can save me because only God is sinless.
God gave His Son, Jesus Christ, to be my Savior by paying the penalty of death for my sin in my place. Jesus Christ was able to do this because He lived a perfect, sinless life (For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are, yet he did not sin. (Hebrews 4:15)) and that makes him uniquely qualified to take the penalty of sin for us. Remember For the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23a).
But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
HOW CAN GOD OFFER ME SALVATION EVEN THOUGH I AM STILL A SINNER?
My salvation was accomplished on the cross.
Jesus paid for all my sin by dying, shedding His blood and rising from the grave. His blood paid my penalty. His resurrection defeated death. He is now in heaven, interceding for me before God.
For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God (1 Peter 3:18a). (TOP OF PAGE)
I can only be saved by trusting
that what Jesus Christ did on the cross is sufficient to save me.
Believing is trusting what God did for me. I can add nothing to my salvation. When I believe that His death was a complete payment for me, He gives me eternal life.
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved (Acts 16:31)
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (John 3:36)
If you want to become a Christian pray this prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I now invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as Lord and Savior. In Jesus' name. Amen.
I AM NOT GOOD ENOUGH AFTER I'M SAVED, DOES THAT MEAN I'M NO LONGER SAVED?
Once I am saved, I am saved for eternity.
Once saved, I cannot lose my salvation. No creature or thing can take it away from me. I cannot lose it by any action of my own.
God says: I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish. (John 10:28)
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16) (TOP OF PAGE)
